Born in Leningrad – today St. Petersburg – in 1989, Sokolov began to study Visual Arts when he was 13. During his first years at the Faculty for Photojournalism, he was a photographer for the magazine Time Out St. Petersburg. Since then, he has worked on several projects, including one on Freetown Christiania in Copenhagen (LFI 4.2025); and another, in Istanbul, for the French media outlets Libération and Arte. In 2023, he graduated from the Danish School of Media and Journalism. During his studies, he participated in the Skaftfell Art Residency in Iceland with the support of Leica Camera.
